City of Hampton

City of Hampton

Listed on the National Registry of Historic Place, Hampton’s unusual train depot is graced with ornate brick detailing, and was constructed with fireproof brick – an oddity during the 1880s. The city park offers pavilions, picnic areas, and tennis courts, and the North 40 Recreation Complex features various ball fields. A branch of the Henry County Library System serves Hampton.

Step back in time when you visit Oaklea Plantation, built just before the Civil War in 1860; it’s now a private home, but tours are available by appointment. While all of Hampton’s residences don't look like Oaklea, you'll find the full spectrum of homes available in this quaint area.

Large employers include Southern States, which manufactures high-voltage disconnects for the electric industry, and the Federal Aviation Administration Air Route Traffic Control Center, which serves the southeastern United States. Corporate jets land at Tara Field, adjacent to Atlanta Motor Speedway.
